The 2020 WITS Virtual Summit kicked off with Kelly Hoey, Networking Expert and Author of Build Your Dream Network, sharing great insights on effective networking and how to maximize your conference experience. 

Sara Baack, Chief Product Officer at Equinix shared insights on her career journey and how to stay true to yourself while innovating and growing your career. 

“During Effective Feedback: Simple Techniques That Have A Big Impact”, Nausheen Moulana, VP of Software Engineering & Operations at Kyruus Inc. shared some solid advice on both giving and receiving feedback. 

Attended a coding bootcamp but not sure what to do now? Panelists Shamique Thompson, Front End Software Engineer at AWeber; Stephanie Harris, Software Engineer at AWeber; Naomi Johnson, Design Steward at Aquent at Merck; and Katie Lytch, Director of EasyVirtualFair, shared the lessons they learned about how to network and and find a job during the “Navigating the Workforce After Coding Bootcamps” panel. 

Director of Education & Learning at Epic Games, Lisa Tenorio, explained what Immersive 3D is and the wide variety of career opportunities available in this technology trend. 

Attendees learned all about how to build your skills and network by volunteering from Alicia Park, TechGirlz National Outreach Manager;  Nourma Bumgarner,  Freelance Technologist; Kisha Robinson, Senior Email Marketing Associate at Udemy; and Sarah Patrick, Junior Fellow at the Library of Congress.

Day One wrapped up with some fun vacation/staycation themed networking including National Park trivia, a virtual vacation through Europe, chats about water sports, fun games, and visits to the beach. 

Day Two was all about Trends in Technology and started off with a powerful and informative session about Diversity and Ethics in AR and VR from AJ Williams, Global Policy Manager at Google

Followed by a talk from Rebel Role Model CEO, Nancy Coblenz about “How Robotics, Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality Will Make Us Human Again”.

Kara Harkins, Senior Developer, Web Applications at the Urban Institute shared information about career opportunities in cybersecurity.

QA Architect at Dell Boomi, Nancy Chacko, provided strong examples of why and how to create a DevOps Culture at your company.

Wrapping up the day was a talk from Amazon Economist, Nanneh Chehras on the The ABCs of A/B Tests: Design, Analyze, and Launch!
